About the role

Stryker’s Instruments Test Lab is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to perform development, verification, and lifecycle testing on the next generation of medical devices. As a member of the Test Lab Team, you will be a key part of bringing cutting-edge medical technology to market. You will coordinate and conduct performance and lifecycle testing on assigned projects and products, acting as the testing representative and primary technical point of contact between the Test Lab and the Product Development team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist design groups and internal customers from the start of research through final verification testing.
  • Select test equipment, develop test methods, create customized test fixtures, set up test systems, and execute testing.
  • Design, develop, and implement high-quality test systems customized to the product being tested.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of good laboratory practices, testing standards, procedures, statistical knowledge, and laboratory safety practices.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively to act as the key contact between stakeholders and the lab.
  • Assist with the formulation of test guidelines and procedures and recommend revisions of specifications where necessary.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and maintain engineering-related test systems.
  • Assist Test Lab management with priorities, scheduling, and technician training for all work related to allocated projects.
  • Coordinate other lab staff to keep testing moving through 2nd and 3rd shift as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science is required, preference for Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree; preference for Masters/PhD.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a B.S.
  • Basic understanding of testing, testing equipment, good laboratory practices, and department metrics.
  • Proficient use of common laboratory test equipment.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical/electrical/software problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable and confident speaking in front of small to medium groups.
  • Test Lab/Test Systems experience.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independence when applying professional expertise.
  • Able to manage time and projects proactively, complete documentation accurately, and bring tasks to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Able to analyze and correct complex processes and/or product issues using independent judgment.
  • Medical device experience in a highly regulated environment.

Schedule

This is a 1st shift position but may require occasional face-to-face communication with 2nd and 3rd shift lab staff.

Pay

$77,700 - $129,500 USD annual.
