About the role
The MEMS Group in Wilmington, MA is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to support our expanding inertial sensor product line. Our portfolio includes accelerometers, gyroscopes, and 6-DOF IMUs designed for healthcare, industrial, automotive, and defense applications. In this role, you will develop hardware and software solutions to test, characterize, and industrialize both integrated circuits and IMU modules. You will collaborate closely with design, product, marketing, and manufacturing teams to deliver test solutions that meet stringent performance, reliability, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Product Development Team to understand product requirements and end-use applications; provide Design-for-Test (DFT) input.
- Support pre-silicon verification through hardware prototyping and software simulations.
- Develop test plans and procedures to ensure product testability, reliability, and performance.
- Design and build test fixtures, hardware, and printed circuit boards for device testing and calibration.
- Develop test and calibration software using .NET, NI LabVIEW/TestStand, and/or C#.
- Utilize custom test systems and industry-standard ATE platforms for device testing and characterization.
- Perform hands-on ATE debug for new products to validate functionality and provide rapid feedback to design teams.
- Identify silicon or module issues and collaborate with Development Teams to drive root-cause investigations and implement solutions or workarounds.
- Conduct statistical analysis of measurement data and prepare detailed performance reports for stakeholders.
- Partner with Design Evaluation engineers to correlate bench and ATE measurements.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and support successful product release.
- Optimize test time to meet or exceed cost targets.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Typically, 4+ years of experience in test development, silicon evaluation, product applications, or similar roles.
- Hands-on experience with test board design, layout, and measurement techniques.
- Practical experience in mixed-signal design, software development, data collection, and analysis.
- Proficiency with programming/scripting languages such as C++, C#, and .NET.
- Experience with MEMS devices or inertial sensors is a plus.
- Experience with FPGA development and Verilog/VHDL is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise.
