About the role

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Telecommunications Engineering Specialist to join our team in Baltimore, MD. Be a part of an agile team to provide the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) OCIO/G-6 with agile, innovative, customer focused, and cost-effective integrated enterprise IT support services in support of the USACE vision of engineering solutions for the Nation's toughest challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design and engineering of complex telecommunications systems within the CASTLE-NET program, ensuring all network pathways and communication protocols strictly adhere to enterprise architecture standards and high-level security frameworks.
  • Directing the configuration, lifecycle upgrades, and advanced problem resolution for enterprise-wide telecommunications infrastructure. This involves overseeing security hardening for communication nodes and managing the resolution of critical system vulnerabilities.
  • Establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure maximum system availability and peak performance. Authorizing and maintaining authoritative technical documentation for system configurations, disaster recovery protocols, and operational procedures.
  • Serving as the lead architect for major technology assignments, overseeing the execution of large-scale telecommunications deployments, and analyzing long-term performance data to drive roadmap adjustments that facilitate program expansion.
  • Acting as the principal Subject Matter Expert (SME) across diversified project assignments, mentoring junior engineers, and interfacing with executive stakeholders to ensure IT services exceed end-user expectations and organizational requirements.
  • Spearheading the integration of innovative, secure, and modernized technological solutions—such as software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN) and next-generation unified communications—to strengthen and future-proof the IT foundation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires an associate's degree (or equivalent work experience) in Telecommunications, IT, or a related field, preferably with some experience in telecommunications or IT support. In lieu of education, 2 yrs experience in telecommunications systems support is appropriate.
  • Requires 8 or more years telecommunications systems support or related IT role.
  • Possesses basic understanding of telecom systems and networking principles along with problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Possess proven ability to develop and implement effective telecommunications equipment strategies to optimize security, compliance, and efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP certification) or Certified Mobile Device Security Professional (CMDSP).
  • Familiarity with the USACE IT environment, regulatory requirements, and data security best practices.
  • Relevant certifications like CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCENT are preferred.

Clearance Requirements

Must possess a Secret security clearance prior to starting this position.

Physical Requirements

The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
