Senior Telecommunications Detail Engineer – Central Office and DC Power

Responsibilities

  • Create new process platforms and resolve any project-related issues utilizing defined processes.
  • Work on multiple programs and projects concurrently.
  • Interface with customers, vendors, and other company employees to complete all aspects of business requirements.
  • Master installation requirements per Telco Standard TP76300 (AT&T) and engineer/create all requirements and documentation with high competence and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive equipment engineering skills on a wide variety of installations and systems, including Central Office DC Power and Battery Systems, current Data Centers and Cloud equipment technologies, low/high-density fiber systems, Remote Terminals, Central Office and Data Center Infrastructure, and Supervisory/Alarm Systems.
  • Understand system integration requirements of common Telecom and Data equipment utilizing computers, test equipment, and testing/diagnostic software.
  • Perform and coordinate onsite site surveys at customer locations.
  • Interpret general network diagrams and site survey information to determine placement of new equipment, parts required for installation, cable type and connections, and power equipment needs.
  • Create detailed engineering plans, documents, and drawings for transport/access networks and co-locations for Central Office, IDCs, Data Centers, COLOs, Power Systems, and remote environments.
  • Research manufacturer documentation on specific equipment to ensure proper equipment is ordered and explain how to install the equipment.
  • Maintain an elevated level of understanding of all company policies and practices, safety procedures, paperwork, and administrative requirements.
  • Comply with system update requirements of all company/customer installation documents.
  • Stand, walk, climb ladders, and crawl in tight spaces during site surveys.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of Telecom DC Power, Infrastructure, and Central Office Detail Engineering experience or a combination of experience and training as determined by the company.
  • Experience with AT&T Systems such as EJF, VIPS, AOTs, and Inventory Systems is a plus.
  • High school diploma with four years of technical school or a combination of training and experience related to the communications Detail Engineering field of 10+ years.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to create instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work alone or with a team.
  • Excellent computer skills and Microsoft 365 experience, including the use of computer programs for diagnosis.
  • Travel in your home region and the U.S. without restrictions for site surveys or meetings; international travel is a plus. All expenses are paid by the employer. Travel requirement estimate is 10% - 25%.
  • Fully understand all company/customer policies and procedures and safety requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass all pre-employment background checks; must be insurable. Valid passport is a plus.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $87,000 USD - $105,000 USD. Actual compensation is influenced by skill set, level of experience, and location. In addition to wages, employees may also be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem, or other applicable compensation.
