About the role
Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures by following established preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Inspects, cleans, and repairs facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
- Observes and documents signs of wear and tear.
- Gathers capital expense information and recommends repair needs to eliminate ongoing and future repairs.
- Determines replacement needs and documents preventive maintenance activities.
- Uses heavy machinery and may be assigned a Developmental Technician for on-the-job training.
- Delivers hands-on training sessions on safety, control troubleshooting, and system operations at company facilities, offsite locations, or vendor sites.
- Performs major and minor repairs on facilities, equipment, or fixtures and oversees work of less-experienced associates by determining scopes of work for projects.
- Serves as a job foreman on assigned work sites.
- Utilizes multiple craft skills (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment).
- Inspects, operates, or tests facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
- Dismantles equipment, machines, or facilities to access and remove defective parts.
- Diagnoses problems utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Utilizes hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment.
- Responds to emergency calls and documents repair activities.
- Evaluates Technicians' skill sets and provides on-site training sessions.
- Performs on-site repairs for hands-on learning.
- Ensures completed work meets or exceeds quality, safety, and code requirements.
- Manages work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors by completing and providing required written and electronic information (e.g., expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, maintenance logs).
- Conducts price comparison of parts and travel-related costs.
- Orders parts and replacement equipment and tracks orders.
- Records purchases and usage, manages parts inventory, and reviews journals and invoices.
- Compiles and reports budget information and submits warranty claims.
- Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines.
- Ensures quality work complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develops relationships with local parts suppliers and contractors, ensuring they follow Walmart quality standards and safety requirements.
- Identifies and reports deficiencies.
- Unloads and stores equipment and transports equipment between facilities.
- Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
- Maintains company vehicles in accordance with company policies and procedures, including coordinating and transporting vehicles for required maintenance.
- Safely operates motor vehicles and ensures the vehicle has all required documents, checking fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights.
- Submits maintenance invoices for payment and verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance.
- Wears company uniform and badge in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (e.g., forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
- Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards.
- Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required.
- Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments.
- Develops, communicates, and implements processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners.
- Demonstrates, promotes, and supports compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
Requirements
- Option 1: Vocational or technical certification and 3 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- Option 2: 6 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Pay
The hourly wage range for this position is $33.00 - $63.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
