Senior Technical Project Manager

Location: Rochester, NY

Salary Range: $116,640 - $145,800

About the Role

This Senior Technical Project Manager position, reporting to the Senior Manager of Compliance Operations, Digital Identities and Pi Systems, will lead cross-functional projects and programs for Avangrid. The role focuses on implementing technical initiatives using Agile and Waterfall methodologies to deliver business efficiencies. Current projects include Pi Electric Implementation, Pi Gas Implementation, Compliance-focused Projects, and Protection System Projects. Intermittent travel within Avangrid Territory may be required.

Responsibilities

• Leads the development of project/program scope, schedule, design, execution, and transition to day-to-day operations.
• Provides expertise, direction, and key decision-making support; coaches, guides, and holds team members accountable.
• Resolves disputes and leads cross-functional teams of internal and external resources; hosts regular project/program status meetings.
• Conducts technical workshops to identify functional system requirements.
• Obtains approval for project funding and develops resource plans.
• Generates and leads the execution of Testing and Training plans.
• Develops business processes, protocols, and tools.
• Manages fiduciary responsibilities, including investment planning, budgets, forecasts, variances, accounting, and cost-benefit development.
• Evaluates regulatory documents and directives to ensure compliance and assess project impacts.
• Understands overarching policy, strategy, and business finances, including company documents, interrogatories, orders, and reports.
• Designs, implements, and tracks KPIs; implements corrective actions as needed.
• Implements change management to accelerate process standardization and technology utilization.
• Prepares project presentations, reports, and regulatory requests.
• Develops and maintains SharePoint/MS Teams sites.
• Communicates progress through regular status updates, including KPIs, schedule tracking, and corrective actions.
• Collaborates across the organization and with global colleagues to leverage technical synergies.
• Makes recommendations to business areas and management to promote efficiencies.
• Manages Avangrid Networks Pi, Compliance, and Protection Systems Projects, including investment planning, budgets, forecasts, and cost recovery.
• Evaluates regulatory impacts on projects and ensures compliance with directives.
• Develops cybersecurity metrics to gauge conformance to standards, policies, and technical requirements.
• Educates members and government agencies during cyber and physical events.
• Engages suppliers to frame mitigation/remediation countermeasures in operational and nonoperational environments.
• Ensures completion of all elements of the NERC Reliability Standards Program to schedule.
• Establishes and monitors Compliance Program milestones for all programs.
• Establishes vendor processes and metrics for cyber assurance.
• Holds regular Program meetings and documents key decisions and progress toward compliance requirements.
• Identifies, analyzes, tracks, and resolves risk and non-compliance program issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Change Management, PMP, or NIST experience is a plus.
• 7 years of relevant business experience, with 3–5 years in project/program management preferred.
• Experience leading technical and business teams.
• Knowledge of Operational Technology systems.
• Experience navigating the Procurement Process, including RFPs, contract requirements, and Statements of Work with milestones.
• Understanding of project accounting to ensure cost recovery through accurate reporting.
• Experience with SAP (local and corporate).
• Experience leading internal and external resources.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, MS Teams, Visio).
• Knowledge and experience with ECC Spectrum, Pi, AMI, and various Protection Systems.
• Experience in software applications and defect resolution is a plus.
• Experience developing roadmaps to align future initiatives.
