Senior Technical Program Manager, Leo Bus & Flight Operations
About the role
Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, you will own the execution, implementation, development, and testing of Amazon Leo software and tooling supporting this mission.
Responsibilities
- Drive the automation and operational excellence of Amazon Leo SW and tooling
- Interface with cross-functional engineering and program management teams to build the software and test infrastructure
- Identify areas of improvement and initiate changes to improve fleet productivity
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical program management or related experience
- Strong technical background with ability to understand complex software systems
- Deep understanding of SDLC and release management practices
- Proven track record managing programs across multiple teams and dependencies
- Experience with distributed systems or large-scale deployments
- Excellent organizational, planning, and execution skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, or similar development methodologies
- Technical Knowledge: Software development lifecycle and release processes, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, System architecture and integration concepts, Testing strategies (unit, integration, system, regression), Version control and branching strategies, Deployment methodologies and rollback procedures, Infrastructure and cloud platforms, Risk management and quality assurance principles
- Program Management Skills: Release planning and scheduling, Dependency mapping and critical path analysis, Risk identification and mitigation, Cross-functional coordination and influence, Metrics definition and tracking, Process design and optimization, Stakeholder management and communication, Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Define KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
