Senior Technical Program Manager, Google Networking Technologies
About the Role
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional project initiatives that span organizational levels to facilitate the delivery of New Product Introductions (NPIs), network architectures, delivering new hardware and software features, and the orchestration of network migrations.
- Leverage advanced AI/ML tools to streamline complex, cross-functional workflows, automate technical processes, and solve ambiguous engineering challenges to accelerate program delivery and enhance operational efficiency.
- Establish and maintain a robust and visible cadence for portfolio reviews, decision-making, prioritization, and resource management, demonstrating measurable improvements and organization-wide impact.
- Collaborate with Google Networking Technologies (GNT) and other engineering teams to develop and articulate/create long-term strategy and short-term plans/roadmaps.
- Leverage technical judgment/quantitative analysis to drive project delivery, technology reviews, guide technical proposals, translate the findings into recommendations, actionable plans, and to define project/program success criteria.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in technical program management, software engineering, or network engineering.
- 8 years of experience in networking infrastructure within a global foundation, global cloud provider, or global service provider network environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing complex cross-functional or cross-team projects.
- Experience in distributed architecture.
- Proven experience in executive-level communication.
- Knowledge of dataplane, control plane, management plane, and Software Defined Networking (SDN).
- Firm sense of accountability, bias-for-action, ability to manage without authority, and to challenge the status quo when necessary.
