Lead Technical Program Manager, Google Networking Technologies
About the role
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in program management.
- 10 years of experience in technical program management, software engineering, or network engineering, including 5 years of experience managing teams of TPMs or Engineers; within a networking environment.
- 7 years of experience in leadership roles with/without direct reports.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience managing complex, cross-functional technical projects from inception to delivery.
- Proven ability to align multiple organizations toward shared project goals and navigate ambiguous technical problems that span multiple teams.
- Excellent executive communication skills, with experience presenting technical, product, and business concepts to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead and empower a high-performing Technical Program Management (TPM) team responsible for complex, cross-functional initiatives across Google Networking Technologies.
- Define, manage, and govern a multidisciplinary portfolio that solves high-impact business problems, align with long-term company objectives, and transform organizations and product areas.
- Partner with engineering leadership to define long-term strategies, establish technical roadmaps, and set the development pace for global software systems and network infrastructure.
- Cultivate strategic organizational alignment by bridging the gap between leadership goal and team execution, ensuring TPMs are empowered to navigate complex, cross-functional engineering landscapes.
- Drive program execution by leveraging technical judgment to build consensus, guide technical proposals, and translate quantitative analysis into actionable recommendations.
