About the role
The Contract Senior Technical UI Artist will support the development of our upcoming title, Guild Wars 3. This role bridges the gap between art and implementation, focusing on creating polished, performant, and scalable interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Work with UI/UX designers to create, translate, and implement UI elements, menus, and systems in the game engine
- Create and maintain widgets, menus, and HUD elements
- Create Material solutions for animations, transitions, and visual effects
- Partner with engineers to integrate existing gameplay systems, data, and backend services
- Create reusable UI components that support scalability across features
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX, Tech Art, and Engineering to clearly present, iterate, and deliver polished work
- Balance visual quality with performance, usability, and production constraints
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working in games, interactive media, or a related field creating and implementing UI art
- Experience translating UI/UX designs into production ready widgets and screens
- A strong portfolio, demo reel, or equivalent body of work demonstrating UI implementation, execution, and problem solving, in UI related features
- Strong proficiency with Unreal Engine, UMG, Blueprint, and Unreal Engine workflows
- Strong proficiency creating expressive, polished, and scalable Shaders/Materials for UI
- Working knowledge of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Common UI, and MVVM architecture
- Solid understanding of visual design fundamentals and UX best practices
- Self-motivated, versatile, and able to operate with confidence and creativity in an ambiguous and iterative environment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with both artistic and technical teams
Qualifications
- Nice to have: Experience with motion graphics and animation, experience shipping UI features for both console and PC platforms, familiarity with accessibility considerations for game UI
