Responsibilities
- Research changes to tax forms
- Interpret the tax code and regulation updates that drove those changes
- Provide guidance to programmers on updates needed to calculations based on research findings
- Test tax return calculations for accuracy, consistency, and usability
- Design and execute test cases to confirm correct implementation of tax law changes
- Contribute to release notes, technical explanations, and customer-facing guidance as needed
- Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned states or tax topics
- Develop and update documentation to support the tax return calculations and other collateral
- Eventually lead or assist other leaders on team projects, as needed
- Provide support for the products we create through both direct and indirect communication channels
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or related field
- CPA or master’s degree is a plus
- 5 to 10 years of industry or public accounting experience specializing in corporate or Pass-through income tax compliance or programming experience
- Experience leveraging AI-driven tools (e.g., generative AI, tax research platforms with AI capabilities, data analytics tools) to enhance tax research, technical analysis, and workflow efficiency is a plus
- Experience with reading and interpreting COBOL and/or C# is a plus
- Experience with Visual Studio, Azure DevOps is a plus
- Exposure to and interest in tax software applications and Microsoft products
- Equivalent experience at a tax software company is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn new skills quickly
- Ability to work extended schedule as required to meet objectives
