Senior Tax Analyst Licensing & Permits
Position Overview
The Senior Tax Analyst, Licensing & Permits is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of tax-related licenses and permits required to manufacture, distribute, warehouse, and sell regulated tobacco and nicotine products across U.S. jurisdictions. This role ensures the company maintains uninterrupted authorization to operate by proactively managing applications, renewals, amendments, and ongoing compliance obligations in a highly regulated environment.
License & Permit Lifecycle Management
- Prepare, submit, and track applications, renewals, amendments, and terminations for federal, state, and local licenses and permits.
- Maintain a complete and accurate inventory of licenses and permits across all legal entities, locations, and sales channels.
- Monitor renewal calendars and ensure timely submissions to prevent lapses or operational disruptions.
- Cook up license changes resulting from business events such as new products, new locations, entity changes, or organizational restructuring.
Regulatory Coordination & Controls
- Serve as the primary operational contact for licensing-related communications with regulators and tax authorities.
- Ensure all licenses and permits are posted, stored, and referenced in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, and information requests related to licensing and permitting compliance.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and evidence of compliance.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support
- Identify opportunities to standardize licensing documentation and automate tracking and renewal processes.
- Collaborate with Legal, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Distribution, and Commercial teams to align permits with operational needs.
- Support the development of SOPs and training materials related to licensing and permit management.
Who We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in licensing, regulatory compliance, tax operations, or a related function.
- Experience supporting tobacco, nicotine, alcohol, or other highly regulated industries strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across jurisdictions.
- Comfort working with regulators and navigating formal application and approval processes.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
- Likely legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Fluent in English.
