Senior Systems Integrator - Communications SME (SOCPAC)

About the role
Sherpa 6 is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Integrator – Communications SME to support Special Operations Command Pacific (SOCPAC) in Okinawa, Japan. This position serves as the command's embedded communications subject matter expert and communications team lead, responsible for designing, integrating, operating, and sustaining tactical communications architectures that enable resilient command and control throughout the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.
The ideal candidate is an experienced SOF communicator with expertise spanning tactical and strategic communications, Tactical Mission Network (TMN), Satellite Deployable Node (SDN), TACLAN systems, High Frequency (HF) communications, and multi-radio integration. As the senior communications leader on-site, this individual leads a team of communicators, providing day-to-day direction, mentorship, and technical oversight.
In this capacity, the individual interacts regularly with senior government and military personnel, including SOCPAC Headquarters leadership, staff principals, and supported unit commanders. Serving as the trusted communications advisor to senior decision-makers, this individual translates operational requirements into effective communications solutions, briefs status and recommendations, and coordinates across organizational boundaries to ensure resilient command and control.
Responsibilities
- Communications Architecture & Network Design
- Design, develop, and implement resilient tactical communications architectures supporting SOCPAC operations.
- Develop Primary, Alternate, Contingency, and Emergency (PACE) communications plans.
- Integrate Tactical Mission Network (TMN) capabilities into joint and SOF architectures.
- Design communications networks to maximize resiliency, redundancy, and interoperability.
- Establish expeditionary communications sites.
- Systems Integration
- Integrate SDN, TACLAN, tactical radios, SATCOM, routers, switches, and network infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot secure tactical networks utilizing PKI, COMSEC, and secure communications technologies.
- Perform routing, switching, access control, and network engineering.
- Support interoperability testing across SOF, Joint, Service, and coalition systems.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging communications technologies.
- Tactical Communications Support
- Configure, operate, and maintain TMN, SDN, TACLAN, HF/VHF/UHF, MANET, and SATCOM systems.
- Develop HF communications plans including antenna selection, propagation analysis, and frequency management.
- Support multi-radio programming, cross-banding, and waveform configuration.
- Troubleshoot communications outages and rapidly restore mission-critical services.
- Operations & Technical Advisory
- Serve as the primary communications SME supporting SOCPAC Headquarters.
- Advise planners and leadership on communications capabilities and risk mitigation.
- Support exercises, planning events, experimentation, and deployments.
- Coordinate with government and industry stakeholders.
- Training & Sustainment
- Conduct NET, operator, and sustainment training.
- Develop technical documentation, network diagrams, and SOPs.
- Mentor military personnel on communications planning and systems integration.
- Support lifecycle sustainment and configuration management.
Requirements
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum 10 years supporting USSOCOM or Joint SOF communications.
- Expertise in tactical and strategic DoW communications architectures.
- Experience designing communications architectures and PACE plans.
- Expert knowledge of TMN, SDN, TACLAN, and SOF tactical communications.
- Experience establishing expeditionary communications sites.
- Hands-on experience with tactical radios, MANET, SATCOM, Cisco routing/switching, and secure IP networking.
- Knowledge of HF communications, COMSEC, PKI, TACLANE, routing, switching, and firewalls.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- SOCPAC or INDOPACOM experience.
- TMN modernization experience.
- Expertise with SOF Deployable Node (SDN) Family of Systems.
- Experience with ATAK/WinTAK, TAK Server, Link-16, and TRAX.
- Experience with PRC-160, PRC-137, PRC-163, PRC-167, PRC-161, and TRQ-43 radios.
- Windows Server and Linux administration.
- Docker, scripting, virtualization, and storage solutions.
- Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and Office 365 administration.
- CompTIA Security+, CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, or equivalent.

Pay
The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience, and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
