About the role

LGES Vertech is seeking a Senior System Integration and Test (SIT) Engineer to join the AEROS software integration and site support team. This role involves test planning and execution, hardware and software integration of vendor equipment with in-house products, and cross-functional communication. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong Software Quality Assurance experience and a track record of delivering well-tested hybrid software and hardware systems.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate complex energy storage systems comprising multi-vendor hardware components and in-house material with AEROS software.
  • Operate and train others on the final product.
  • Support field service and end-customers in all aspects of system operation.
  • Participate in all aspects of test planning and execution across multiple projects.
  • Prepare detailed factory integration and system acceptance test plans (FIT and SAT).
  • Execute and maintain test cases, provide up-to-date test execution reports, and share quality metrics with project stakeholders.
  • Validate energy storage control modes and customer power plant controller (PPC) using SCADA and DNP3 protocols.
  • Contribute to script-based automation regression platforms for Linux-based systems and web applications.
  • Discover undocumented features and maintain a defect tracking database.
  • Assist in documenting system operation.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate with the development team to address issues.
  • Work with developers to understand services and features under development.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum meetings, providing input on testing timelines and reporting on system integration progress.
  • Maintain effective technical relationships across functions, departments, vendors, and customers.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, testing methodologies, and tools.
  • Propose and implement improvements to the testing process for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide remote and on-site support for battery installations during commissioning.
  • Interact with internal and external customers to provide Level 2 support and troubleshoot issues at legacy sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in software/hardware integration and controls testing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and document processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and Bash for development and troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable operating in a Linux environment and possessing basic networking skills.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated capability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with battery management systems technology, including high-power inverters.
  • Knowledge of fieldbus protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols including SCADA and DNP3.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Fire Access Control Panels (FACP), and discrete I/O.
  • Hands-on experience with automated regression testing methodologies and web-based tools.
  • Lab experience with both low- and high-voltage hardware.
  • Background in helpdesk or technical support roles for complex system issues.
  • Proficiency with source control tools such as Subversion, GitHub, and JIRA for issue tracking.

Schedule

This role operates remotely, with on-site attendance required for up to one week each month to support project milestone reviews, cross-functional collaboration, and other business-critical activities. Travel is expected at 25% to the Westboro office for project milestones, with occasional travel for on-site support.
