About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer experienced in configuring, deploying, and maintaining TeamWork Cloud and Cameo (and associated tools like Cassandra DB) as Application as Code (AaC) to join a high-visibility technical program driving the Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) cloud platform. This platform supports collection, management, and analysis of digital engineering information in an architecture that provides a seamless digital thread and enables tool interoperability, including data structures suitable for AI applications.

The program delivers engineering services for Linux and Windows cloud-based infrastructure as well as sophisticated enterprise computing infrastructure, including end-point devices, cloud services, virtualized applications, and storage systems. Services include modern application technology such as containerized solutions with orchestrated workflows. The platform uses a mix of Open Source, Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTS), and Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) software, targeting cloud-native constructs with a secure-by-default configuration, Infrastructure-as-Code approach, and governance policies. The environment values fast iteration and a customer-oriented approach while maintaining security.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT technical services and expertise in systems, technical infrastructure, tools, modeling, external interfaces, and other technical areas.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain applications such as TeamWork Cloud and Cameo (and associated tools like Cassandra DB) as Application as Code (AaC) using CI/CD pipeline in a cloud-based environment.
  • Work with internal engineering resources and customer end-users to design and enhance user interfaces for supported applications, maintaining responsive designs that accommodate challenging technical and functional requirements.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test plans.

  • Configure and deploy applications as code in CI/CD pipeline using DevSecOps tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, GitLab, IdAM, Active Directory, and LDAP resources.
  • Prepare technical presentations for government and senior leadership.
  • Work effectively in a team environment across infrastructure that contains both Linux (60%) and Windows (40%).
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, both written and verbally.
  • Utilize robust troubleshooting skills.
  • Instill and apply solid engineering rigor, including configuration management and testing.
  • Develop/engineer as part of an Agile scrum team.

  • Expertise in configuring, deploying, and maintaining applications as AaC through Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Ability to demonstrate solid engineering rigor.
  • Expert troubleshooting and solutioning skills.
  • Experience working with relational and/or non-relational databases (e.g., Cassandra, MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly and succinctly describe complex issues.
  • Experience integrating applications with workflow, case or ticketing, or automation platforms such as ServiceNow or custom-built systems.
  • Knowledge of IDAM requirements and technologies including Active Directory, SAML, OpenLDAP, OAuth 2.0, and/or OIDC.
