About the role

Lead and/or execute Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) activities to maintain broad knowledge of NASA Program and Project architectures. Provide recommendations to NASA Program and Project Management to achieve a balanced, consistent, and acceptable risk posture for Human Spaceflight Mission Directorate and other NASA missions. Serve as an executive consultant to NASA partners, including commercial entities and international governments, upon request by NASA management. Chair working groups, ad hoc teams, and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) as needed. Guide and mentor less experienced NASA E3 practitioners to develop future Subject Matter Experts. Participate in cross-cutting panels, working groups, and study teams with specialists from related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%).

• Travel domestically within the USA (5%).
• Work at a computer for extended periods (100%).
• Sit for extended periods in meetings and at a desk (90%).
• Use stairs or elevators to access multiple buildings and floors (10%).
• Operate general office equipment, including computers, telephones, and copiers (100%).
• Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising good judgment (100%).

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent, plus a minimum of 25 years of direct E3 experience in NASA Human Spaceflight missions.
• Technical writing and presentation capabilities.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, NASA, Center, and other E3/EMI specifications.
• Familiarity with common computer operating systems and Microsoft Office software.
• U.S. citizenship and a STAR ID.
• Ph.D. with a minimum of 24 years of experience, MS with at least 28 years, or BS with at least 30 years of experience.

Qualifications

A degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university is preferred.

Schedule

• Normal workday: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet milestones and support technical demands.
