Senior Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Work closely with systems engineers to develop metrology solutions for complex multi-layer, optical critical dimension (scatterometry), and overlay measurements for state-of-the-art logic/memory devices.
• Perform application development and characterization of cutting-edge measurement technologies.
• Create technology/product presentations and support account/product activities at customer sites.
• Interface with customers to highlight application opportunities and strengthen Onto Innovation’s market position.
• Perform on-site tool qualification to achieve customer specifications.
• Build and optimize scatterometry and ellipsometry models for both Thin Film and OCD applications to support TD and HVM metrology teams.
• Collect future development feedback from the field and relay it to engineering and marketing groups to improve Onto Innovation’s market position.
• Deliver technical presentations and perform system demonstrations/sample inspection/measurement for customers.
• Interface with external customers and internal departments to determine equipment specifications.
• Aid in the design and development of new equipment or re-design of existing systems to meet customer requirements.
• Up to 30% domestic and overseas travel for cross-regional support may be required.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience and a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related science and engineering field; experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Ability to deliver effective technical presentations to internal and external audiences.
• Strong understanding of optical properties of materials and other forms of elastic/inelastic light–matter interaction.
• Experience with design of experiments, data science, statistical analysis, and scientific programming is a plus.
• Proficiency in scripting languages used for data analytics (e.g., MATLAB/Python) is a plus.
• Knowledge of numerical techniques, Fourier and wavelet analysis, complex analysis, differential equations, and similar applied mathematical techniques is a plus.
• Ability to travel internationally up to 20%.
• Ability to work in the fab up to 30%.

Pay

Base Salary Range: $115,200.00 – $172,800.00, offered in good faith and based on experience, location, and qualifications.
