Senior Systems Engineer
About the role
OCLC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (DevOps) to support and enhance the Wise Integrated Library System (ILS) platform used by public libraries. This role focuses on ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, scalable, and efficient through automation, monitoring, infrastructure management, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure (RHEL preferred).
- Automate operational tasks, deployments, and configuration management using Ansible and scripting (Bash/Python).
- Improve infrastructure provisioning, patching, upgrades, and platform maintenance processes.
- Implement and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
- Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
- Support customer environment deployments and platform improvement projects.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve CI/CD and deployment processes.
- Create technical documentation, runbooks, and promote knowledge sharing.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-team coordination.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years in DevOps, Systems Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related roles.
- Strong experience with Linux (RHEL) administration and troubleshooting.
- 6+ years of Ansible and automation/IaC experience.
- Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting.
- Experience with SQL/MySQL.
- Monitoring, incident management, and production support expertise.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
