About the role
The Senior Systems Engineer will assist the Business Development department in evaluating new technology and partnerships, architecting new capabilities and solutions, and leading development efforts and demonstrations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team providing technical support to Business Development, to include Advanced Concepts investigations, proposals, and IRADs.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current/emerging technologies and their applicability to new DRS Land Systems business.
- Contribute meaningfully to the development and planning of the LS Technology Strategy and Roadmap.
- Serve as a liaison between BD and Engineering within the team to promote cooperation, communication, and coordination.
- As necessary, identify and coordinate for specific engineering resources required for tasks; lead cross-functional innovation teams; and maintain in-depth knowledge of DRS engineering capabilities.
- Lead the development of new and/or existing systems/sub-systems. May include Architectural Design, Requirements Engineering, or others.
- Determine system specifications.
- Support acquisition of hardware and software (or subcontractor services as needed).
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required.
- Support pursuit capture and proposals by developing technical approaches, solution architectures, compliance matrices, make-buy inputs, technical volumes, and risk-reduction plans (including prototype or demo concepts when needed).
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services.
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings.
- Lead less-experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to lead a technical group independently
- Working knowledge of military specifications and standards
- Base knowledge of relevant CAD/CAM processes and tools
- Conversant in modern US military organization, doctrine, equipment, and acquisition process
- Systems-thinking, customer-oriented business perspective
- Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time
- U.S. Citizenship required
Qualifications
- Active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment

- Technical expertise in systems engineering

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of military and commercial systems
- Experience with proposal development and evaluation
