Senior Systems Engineer

Leidos’ Defense Sector is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support an Air Force Life Cycle Management Center program. This role involves delivering comprehensive IT and support services to ensure mission success while adhering to DoD standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Travel to support customer sites and participate in hardware installation and configuration.
• Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual Linux and Windows servers.
• Oversee and perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Identify and resolve technical issues within complex system or network infrastructure.
• Manage system patches, upgrades, and security hardening in compliance with DoD policies.
• Provide support for system backups, disaster recovery, and data integrity.
• Assist in managing system access, user accounts, and security configurations.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to support software deployments and integration.
• Ensure system documentation is maintained and up to date.
• Participate in incident response and resolve issues related to system performance, security, and availability.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers and administrators, fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth.
• Coordinate with Government network owners to understand requirements for new locations.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance prior to start date.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience or a Master’s Degree with 6+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• DoD 8140 intermediate certification or DoD 8570 IAM Level II certifications or higher.
• Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, or similar directory services.
• Strong foundational experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
• Strong experience administering complex environments with Linux and Windows operating systems, network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous or unstructured information.
• Self-starter able to work independently while possessing the communication skills to work effectively with multiple cross-functional teams and customers.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance and the ability to maintain that clearance.
• Linux certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).
• Windows Server certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, CompTIA Server+).
• Familiarity with cloud-based account management and infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Experience in managing accounts across various platforms (e.g., Windows, Linux, macOS).
• Knowledge of automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow and Atlassian Jira Service Management.

Pay

Pay Range: $107,900.00 - $195,050.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
