Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

The Senior Systems Engineer is a role within the HENSOLDT UK, a trading name of Kelvin Hughes Limited, Systems Engineering group, participating in Company and Customer Funded systems projects based upon HENSOLDT UK, a trading name of Kelvin Hughes Limited state of the art solid state radar technology. This Senior Systems Engineer will be exposed to all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle from System Concept through to Delivery and Acceptance.

Job Functions

• Essential: Experience of systems design, integration & test.
• Essential: A good understanding of Systems and Product lifecycles from concept through to delivery.
• Essential: A good understanding on a range of Engineering disciplines (Software, Mechanical, and Electrical).
• Essential: An understanding of Risk management from conception to project acceptance.
• Desirable: Understanding of Radar and Radio Systems.
• Desirable: Experience of the whole product lifecycle (concept generation, concept demonstration, development, production and in-service support).
• Desirable: Experience of the formation of work packages.
• Desirable: Experience in generating project plans.
• Desirable: Experience in leading design reviews.
• Desirable: Experience of test houses and external verification activities to external standards (MIL STD/Def Stan / IEC).
• Desirable: Experience of working with and developing systems using communications protocols (e.g. RS485, RS232, TCP-IP, CANBus etc.).
• Desirable: Experience of working on product development for Naval Platforms.
• Desirable: Experience of working on or with Navigation equipment.
• Desirable: Experience with common test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
• Desirable: An understanding of basic electronics and circuit level fault finding.
• Desirable: Experience with common hand tools and soldering.
• Desirable: Familiarity with EMC, Electronics and working in an ESD environment.
• Desirable: The ability to lead multi-skilled engineering teams.
• Desirable: The ability to deliver engineering packages of work to time, cost and quality.
• Desirable: Member of a Professional Engineering Institution (e.g. IMechE, IET, INCOSE).
• Desirable: Ability to compile a standard bid proposal.

Qualifications

Ideally qualified to Degree level or in Engineering/Mathematics/Physics although relevant, equivalent experience is acceptable.
