About the role
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. The systems engineering team is looking for an experienced system engineer to lead systems engineering for a Group 5 aircraft program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with complex unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and a strong background in at least one area of expertise (e.g., avionics, software, propulsion, communications). The role involves using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools to develop design artifacts for unmanned systems.
Responsibilities
- Shape customer needs into air vehicle and subsystem requirements in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop System Engineering artifacts, including system model, to trace from stakeholder inputs through design in a digital thread.
- Incorporate input from system safety, software engineering, and other disciplines to shape system architecture.
- Lead program team through systems engineering reviews including System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, and Critical Design Review.
- Communicate and manage program risks in conjunction with Chief Engineer and Program Management.
Requirements
- B.S. in aerospace, mechanical, computer science, or similar engineering or technical field.
- 7+ years Systems Engineering Experience across the life cycle for an UAS with specific focus on aircraft systems.
- Familiarity and experience with the following standards and handbooks: MIL-HDBK-516C, MIL-STD-882E, ARP-4761, ARP-4754A, DO-178C, DO-254, MIL-STD-881.
- Experience developing subsystem and component requirements and interfaces.
- Experience with Systems Engineering, Requirements Elicitation and Management, Integration, and Test Activities on complex systems (e.g., DoD Weapon Systems, Space Systems).
- Experience with SysML, DoDAF, UAFP, or similar.
- Experience developing various model-based system engineering artifacts: Operational Viewpoints, System Viewpoints, activity diagrams, use case diagrams, BDDs, IBDs, parametric diagrams.
- Outstanding communication skills, including presentation of developed artifacts.
- Experience leading systems engineering efforts on developmental programs.
- Must hold an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in at least one of the following aircraft areas of expertise: avionics, electrical power systems, communications, propulsion, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems.
- Experience with Cameo MagicDraw or similar systems engineering software (e.g., Rhapsody, SparxEA).
- Experience with Digital Engineering workflows and Integrated Modeling Environments (e.g., Teamwork Cloud).
- Demonstrated high ownership and autonomy across the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle.
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Pay
US Salary Range $166,000—$220,000 USD.
