Senior Systems Designer
About the role
Oshkosh AeroTech is a leading provider of aviation ground support products, gate equipment and airport services to commercial airlines, airports, air-freight carriers, ground handling and military customers. The Senior Systems Designer supports engineering teams by creating and modifying detailed 2D and 3D designs using computer-aided design tools.
Responsibilities
- Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models for components, assemblies, and sub-weldments using Siemens NXDevelop sheet metal parts, brackets, and small weldments, supporting mechanical design needs across various product lines.
- Demonstrate both drafting and modeling proficiency, including the ability to fully dimension and document designs.
- Support new development efforts driven by sales orders, including creation of new options and configuration-specific designs.
- Assist with product maintenance activities, including compliance updates, value engineering, and resolution of obsolete components.
- Perform self-checks on all work to ensure accuracy in dimensions, tolerances, and adherence to CAD standards.
- Apply GD&T practices to update and release drawings based on engineering markups, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design intent.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to gather technical data and ensure design feasibility.
- Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and part structures in accordance with company standards and engineering requirements.
- Prepare and process Change Notices (CNs) to support design updates, product improvements, and obsolescence management.
- Utilize ERP (migrating to InforLN) and PLM (Teamcenter) systems to create part numbers, manage product data, and maintain configuration accuracy.
- Provide hands-on technical support for prototype builds, pilot runs, and production issues.
- Contribute to medium-scale development efforts, supporting system-level changes and enhancements across existing platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent* with four (4) years of experience in design.
- Experience designing sheet metal components and small weldments.
- Experience creating 2D drawings.
- Experience with Siemens NX.
Standout Qualifications
- Hydraulics design experience.
- Electrical design experience.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial design environment.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
- Exposure to ERP systems and engineering data management processes.
- Experience creating and interpreting detailed engineering drawings with full GD&T application.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $73,200.00 - $117,800.00.
