Senior Systems Designer
About the role
Your Role
Work with the Systems team and other disciplines on Communications, ITS, Security, and Control systems for public and private clients
Provide design packages that include plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Review the work of others in the team
Support the implementation of these systems by providing field inspections, reviewing submittals, and responding to requests for information
Support the commissioning and testing of these systems
Manage projects of varying complexity for various public and private clients
Research technologies to provide solutions to clients
Attend team and client meetings
Attend client site visits throughout New England and the United States
Responsibilities
- Develop technical specifications and cost estimates
- Coordinate interdisciplinary work
- Provide calculations to support designs
- Support the implementation of these systems
- Manage projects of varying complexity

Requirements
- Substantial professional years of experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of communication systems, security systems, intelligent transportation systems, security systems, instrument and control systems
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Capable of working in a team environment, including giving and receiving critical feedback
- Strong and effective verbal and written communications skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and CAD software
- Self-motivated, responsible, and accountable
- Able to communicate effectively with clients and owners, and able to respond in a timely manner to their requests and needs
- Valid driver’s license and ability to transport self to sites on short notice
- Ability to obtain right of way, TWIC, and other licenses as required
Qualifications
- Local to greater Boston, MA or willing to relocate to the area
- Experience with some or all the following is a plus: Communications systems including networking, Voice over IP, ethernet, and fiber optics
ITS devices such as electronic variable message boards, lane use signs, weigh stations, and roadway weather stations
Physical Security Systems (video surveillance, electronic access control)
Familiarity with NFPA 70 – The National Electric Code
Emerging technologies such as solar and electric vehicle charging

Pay
$170,000.00 to $200,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked.
