Senior Systems Designer

About the role

Disney Digital Entertainment is seeking a Senior Systems Designer to join a dynamic team developing innovative games based on Disney’s extensive portfolio of characters and worlds. Reporting to the Lead System Designer, this role offers a remote opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking game experiences.

Responsibilities

• Create game content using Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting in Verse in both development and live service environments.
• Design and develop a variety of systems, content, and features from core systems and game mechanics to player progression and metagame systems.
• Support multidisciplinary teams in implementing gameplay features from concept to release.
• Write, update, and maintain detailed systems design documentation. Provide guidance and mentorship for other Systems Designers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of game development experience, including at least one shipped game in a similar role.
• Special appreciation for Disney’s IP, including characters and lore, linear media and movie franchises, theme parks design, and overall aesthetics.
• Strong technical skills, with experience in visual scripting languages and industry-standard toolsets such as Unity, Unreal, etc.
• Working knowledge in combat design, progression design, economy design, gameplay mechanics design, character, control, and camera design.
• Able to communicate effectively with other teams and groups.
• Strong understanding of mathematics, statistics, and probability as it pertains to game design and balance.
• Experience with systems developed using Unreal Engine and/or UEFN, and proficiency in C++, Blueprints, and/or Verse Scripting.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Game Design or equivalent combination of education and experience.
