Essential duties & responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of advanced estimation platforms, incorporating algorithmic, statistical, and physics-based modeling approaches.
  • Define and implement enterprise-grade system architectures leveraging modern patterns such as event-driven architecture, microservices and distributed systems, and data-intensive and real-time processing frameworks.
  • Establish architectural standards aligned with frameworks such as TOGAF, BizBOK, and DAMA-DMBOK.
  • Drive research and development (R&D) initiatives focused on estimation methodologies, including optimization algorithms, simulation models, and predictive analytics and probabilistic modeling.
  • Apply advanced mathematics, statistics, and physics principles to solve complex estimation challenges.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and techniques into the estimator ecosystem.
  • Architect and deliver large-scale rail transportation modernization solutions, ensuring domain alignment.
  • Design systems that solve multi-domain business problems spanning operations, planning, and financial estimation.
  • Provide thought leadership in enterprise information management and data architecture.
  • Guide engineering teams across a broad technology landscape, including legacy platforms (IBM Mainframe, TPF) and modern stacks (Java, Spring Boot, cloud-native services).
  • Drive transition strategies from legacy to modern, event-driven ecosystems.
  • Act as the technical authority and primary advisor for estimation systems across business and engineering stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to translate complex requirements into scalable architectures.
  • Mentor engineers and architects in advanced modeling, system design, and architectural best practices.

Requirements & qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of IT experience, including 10+ years in architecture roles.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions in rail transportation.

Technical expertise

  • Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures, applied mathematics, statistics, or physics-based modeling.
  • Proven experience designing complex estimation or modeling systems.
  • Deep knowledge of event-driven architecture, distributed systems and microservices, and enterprise data and information architecture.

Frameworks & methodologies
