Senior Systems Analyst, ITS & Claims

About the role

The Senior Systems Analyst at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is responsible for analyzing business requirements, creating technical specifications, and developing mainframe applications, interfaces, and databases. They also maintain claims applications, including production on-call support and technical issue resolution. Additionally, they serve as a technical subject matter expert for claims systems and provide expert consultative assistance to Applications management and staff. The incumbent also supports the implementation of software releases for the Federal Employee Program and/or the BlueCard National Program.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes business requirements and creates technical specifications for mainframe applications, interfaces, and databases.
• Maintains claims applications, providing production on-call support and resolving technical issues.
• Serves as a technical subject matter expert for claims systems and provides expert consultative assistance to Applications management and staff.
• Supports the implementation of software releases for the Federal Employee Program and/or the BlueCard National Program.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• At least 7 years of programming experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of system analysis and design experience.
• Competence in COBOL, JCL, CICS, MVS, DB2, and SDLC.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Familiarity with Business Writing, Project Management, Time Management, Conflict Resolution, and Teamwork concepts and practices.
• Experience in Project Management is preferred.

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including on-call support.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually.

Schedule

The Senior Systems Analyst typically works standard business hours, but may be required to work on-call support during evenings and weekends.
