About the role
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to handle the day-to-day operations for systems at a client site. This role involves working closely with a laboratory environment and requires a candidate who can operate independently as a stand-alone systems administrator. The position focuses on maintaining security protocols and action plans, including running STIG checklists and performing related duties.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, monitor, and support Laboratory Information Management Systems.
- Perform administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation for Microsoft MECM Server, including inventory, patch deployment, and workstation image deployment.
- Manage server applications such as Microsoft WSUS, IIS, and SQL Server; Shavlik Protect/Ivanti; and Symantec Backup Exec.
- Administer Windows OS environments, including Windows Workstation 10 and Server 2016, McAfee HBSS, Tanium, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Conduct DISA STIG compliance tasks, address Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), and manage patches and upgrades across systems.
- Oversee VMware and storage systems, including administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Run STIG checklists and manage security protocols and action plans.
- Review logs via Splunk to ensure system integrity and security.
Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor of Science degree is required, or 8-10 years of equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree, or 8-10 years of experience without a degree.
- Knowledge of systems administration concepts, principles, methods, and practices for integrating information system components.
- Proficiency with Operating Systems (Windows Server, Windows 10 Enterprise and LTSC) and other network operating system environments.
- Experience maintaining and operating Enterprise Services such as Active Directory, Group Policy Management, MECM, ACAS, PKI, DHCP, Network Monitoring, IIS, and SQL Databases.
- Experience with VMware administration, system backups, and MECM.
- Demonstrated experience applying DISA STIG settings to Microsoft Server and Application Environments and ensuring information assurance compliance.
Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+ Certificate
- An Operating System (OS) Certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with forensic applications such as Agilent Gas/Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry, Hamilton STAR/STARLET, or Data Innovations Instrument Manager is beneficial but not required.
