Senior System Test Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior System Test Manager to lead a team of test engineers to ensure a quality user experience with our products and accessories. This role will focus on functional and system-level testing, excluding regulatory compliance and mechanical reliability testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement system test strategies, methodologies, and plans to validate hardware, embedded software, cloud services, and mobile app software against documented market and product requirements.
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of test engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Oversee the design, development, and execution of test cases, scripts, and procedures to ensure comprehensive coverage of system functionality, performance, and integration.
• Work closely with product management, engineering (hardware, embedded software, cloud, mobile app and compliance teams), and other stakeholders to align testing efforts with product goals and timelines.
• Drive the adoption of test automation tools and frameworks to improve testing efficiency and coverage, particularly for cloud and mobile app software.
• Provide clear, concise reports on test progress, results, and quality metrics to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with project objectives.
• Identify opportunities to enhance testing processes, tools, and methodologies to improve product quality and team efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in system testing, quality assurance, or related roles, preferably in a connected device or IoT product environment.
• 4+ years of experience leading or managing a test engineering team.
• Proven experience testing integrated systems involving hardware, embedded software, cloud services, and mobile applications.
• Strong understanding of system testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of hardware-software integration testing and debugging tools.
• Experience with cloud-based systems and mobile app testing (iOS and Android).
• Proficiency with defect tracking and test management tools.
• Expert in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Working with Project Managers and functional leads to establish project plans, holding teams accountable for their dates and deliverables.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing quality issues.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in the consumer electronics or connected appliance industry.
• Knowledge of IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).
