CGI is seeking a senior Systems Engineer who is passionate about solving challenging client problems with emerging technology solutions. As a CGI DevOps Engineer, you will be joining the International Affairs (IAF) group to support the mission of U.S. security, economic well-being, and worldwide relations. Working with various clients in the US federal space, IAF supports missions that foster national security, foreign relations, and resilient democratic societies.

About the role

The Senior Systems Engineer will lead the deployment, operations, and modernization of our Momentum ERP financial management and procurement solution for a U.S. Federal client. In this role, you will architect, engineer, automate, and maintain the infrastructure and container platforms that Momentum runs on, ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing environments across the software development lifecycle. You will provide technical leadership to application developers, DevOps engineers, and client operations staff to containerize workloads, streamline deployments, and improve platform resiliency. This position is located in Fairfax, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering, configuration, and maintenance of the infrastructure supporting Momentum ERP across development, test, and production environments.
  • Architect and manage containerized Momentum workloads on Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), including deployment manifests, scaling, and platform health.
  • Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate configuration, provisioning, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Establish automation standards for routine operations and maintenance using scripting and infrastructure as code.
  • Lead the design and support of cloud-hosted environments (AWS and/or Microsoft Azure), including performance tuning, monitoring, and cost efficiency.
  • Resolve complex infrastructure, container, networking, and environment issues in partnership with development and client teams.
  • Define and enforce security configurations, access controls, and hardening in line with government/NIST requirements.
  • Mentor engineers and document runbooks, deployment procedures, and platform architecture to support reliable operations and knowledge transfer.
  • Apply advanced problem-solving skills to modernize overall technology solutions that will directly impact client missions.
  • Design and troubleshoot complex technical solutions that include automation, software issues, monitoring, maintenance, configuration, SQL scripting, and CI/CD pipeline implementations.
  • Lead technical architecture solution efforts by interfacing with feature and product teams to understand business needs and working alongside functional team members.
  • Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities with the ability to drive multiple work streams and lead the assimilation of new techniques and solutions.
  • Follow technology trends within Cloud and DevOps to advise clients on how this technology will benefit the future development platform.
  • Lead team problem-solving efforts and mentor others in solving client issues.

Requirements

  • An interim Secret clearance is required to begin working onsite with our client, and a Secret clearance must be maintained throughout the project duration.
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, MIS, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant systems engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering experience, including a technical leadership role.
  • Expert hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).
  • Deep experience with containerization (Docker/Podman) and container orchestration.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Proven experience architecting and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions).
  • Advanced proficiency with a scripting/automation language (e.g., Python, Bash) and Linux administration.
  • Extensive experience working in Agile/DevOps environments across the SDLC.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with SQL.
  • Ability to work both independently and to lead a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with ERP platforms, ideally Momentum Financials/Acquisitions.
  • Advanced experience with configuration management/IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Experience with JBoss, WebLogic, or similar application servers.
  • Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch).
  • Experience with Oracle SQL and database-backed applications.
  • Strong understanding of government/NIST security requirements and accreditation processes.
  • Agile or cloud certifications strongly preferred.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $79,600.00 - $194,000.00.
