As part of this program, you will work alongside experts in software engineering, cloud computing, DevSecOps, systems engineering, and enterprise platforms to modernize legacy systems, automate business processes, and deliver innovative solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the user experience. The work you perform will help ensure the organization has the technology, information, and capabilities needed to support its workforce and accomplish its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a fast-paced team providing support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems supporting critical enterprise applications.
  • Provide senior-level technical leadership in the administration, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of enterprise IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Serve as a leader and mentor for the system administration team, providing direction, guidance, and oversight while maintaining a strong hands-on role in day-to-day operations and complex technical problem resolution.
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and associated processes, ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and performance of enterprise applications and services.
  • Provide day-to-day operations, monitoring, maintenance, and problem resolution for client systems, servers, storage platforms, network devices, and related infrastructure.
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, including problem identification, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues and provide technical direction and guidance to other system administrators.
  • Support the escalation process and communicate system status, issues, and resolutions to agency management and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with hardware support activities, dispatch processes, and issue resolution through completion.
  • Configure, administer, and maintain Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems, including software installation, patching, system hardening, and performance tuning.
  • Maintain the integrity and availability of infrastructure components while implementing enhancements to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and development teams to support infrastructure modernization efforts, including evaluating, testing, and implementing technology solutions that enhance system capabilities.
  • Participate in the assessment of existing systems and architectures, providing operational and technical input for initiatives involving automation, DevOps practices, cloud technologies, and application modernization.
  • Manage the planning, testing, deployment, and sustainment of infrastructure and application changes across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-hosted environments, as applicable.
  • Analyze operational, security, compliance, and technical considerations associated with infrastructure changes and technology migrations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and system configuration baselines.
  • Serve as a technical resource, helping to promote knowledge sharing, consistency, and continuous improvement across the team.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
  • A bachelor's degree and fifteen (15) years of experience as a system administrator on programs of similar scope and complexity is required. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, twenty (20) years of experience is required.
  • In-depth Linux experience.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell and Bash scripting languages.
  • Experience with system hardening.
  • Experience working with ISSOs for system compliance.
  • DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level I is required.
  • Experience developing and updating technical documentation.
  • Must be able to work core hours of 10 AM–2 PM Monday–Friday. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience supporting DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or automated deployment processes.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience performing vulnerability remediation, security patching, and STIG implementation.
  • Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, RMF activities, and security compliance initiatives.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this position is between $190,000–$240,000 (annualized USD). This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package. Actual salaries are influenced by several factors, such as location, the individual's education, skills, experience, and competencies, as well as contract affordability and organizational needs.
