About the role

The Senior Switch Engineer (Samsung OEM) is responsible for integrating, deploying, configuring, and maintaining switching systems in a telecommunications network to ensure efficient and effective operation according to project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and deploy switching systems, including switches, routers, and servers, ensuring they meet project requirements and are scalable and efficient.
  • Configure and maintain switching systems, ensuring peak performance and up-to-date software and security patches.
  • Troubleshoot network issues using testing equipment, analyzing network data, and collaborating with other teams to identify root causes.
  • Test and optimize networks to ensure peak performance.
  • Document all work performed, including installation, maintenance, and repairs, in a detailed and accurate manner.
  • Provide technical support to customers and other teams, including solving complex technical problems.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing updates on project progress, identifying issues, and recommending solutions.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers to help develop their skills and expertise.
  • Serve as the key interface and point of contact for customers, driving entire projects and providing status updates.
  • Attend daily market calls and provide status updates to customers.
  • Provide remote integration support for LTE & 5G and manage projects on Samsung OEM hardware.
  • Perform hands-on integration and alarm clearing for GSM/UMTS/4G/5G on Samsung hardware.
  • Oversee and train other engineers on the team.
  • Support on-the-fly scripting for antenna/RRU swaps, perform RET validations, define external alarms, frequency retunes, and site reconfiguration.
  • Provide support to drive testing crews by locking/unlocking sectors and making power changes as required.
  • Validate and script port mapping as per design.
  • Work hands-on with Ericsson BBUs (5216-6630-6648 & 6651) and Samsung equipment.
  • Perform IXRE router commissioning, troubleshooting, and migrations.
  • Conduct Level 1 and Level 2 triage on an immediate basis and engage other groups as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects (IXR migration, carrier integration, anchor projects) in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate strong skills in integration, RF, and a good understanding of transport disciplines with attention to detail.
  • Understand, create, and follow Method of Procedures (MOPs).
  • Create Change Records and Tickets to support assigned work.
  • Collaborate with local General Contractors (GCs), Real-Time Performance Team, and Field Operations Team.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Field Operations Team (Field Integrator).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with specific experience working with Samsung OEM.
  • Expert knowledge of Samsung OEM hardware integration.
  • Expert knowledge of network technologies, including switching, routing, and networking protocols.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience providing remote integration support for LTE & 5G and managing projects on Samsung OEM.
  • Hands-on integration experience working on Verizon Networks with Samsung OEM.
  • Experience working on macro integrations on Verizon systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Ericsson BBUs (5216-6630-6648 & 6651) and Samsung equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with IXRE router commissioning, troubleshooting, and migrations.

Pay

Pay range in the United States: $80,000 – $120,000 based on geography, skills, and experience. Eligible for performance incentive opportunities based on company and individual goals.
