The City of Fayetteville, an All-America City award winner (2023), is the sixth largest city in North Carolina and emphasizes collaboration and inclusiveness in decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate electronic survey and data collection equipment (survey levels, chains, tapes, theodolites, metal detectors, calculators, prism poles, etc.).
- Drive stakes, hubs, and iron for survey purposes; mark grades for utilities construction.
- Maintain and track survey supplies and instruments (stakes, marking equipment).
- Prepare and participate in topographic survey projects; collect and provide survey data for engineers and draftsmen, including records and logs.
- Assist with elevations, control points, curve data, angles, boundaries, cross sections, and area calculations.
- Locate field evidence for existing property lines, utility lines, and right-of-ways; take detailed field notes and sketches.
- Assist in site preparation (clearing brush, moving manhole covers) and direct traffic during survey activities.
- Answer public inquiries about engineering and surveying activities.
- Travel to various survey sites, including remote locations.
- Compile, calculate, review, and input survey data for the state geodetic system; transfer instrument data to computer systems.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in technical field survey work.
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Qualifications
Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Licensing & Certifications
- Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability.
Pay
$17.50 - $22.31/hour (D.O.Q.).
