Under the general supervision of the circulating registered nurse and in collaboration with the service-line coordinators, clinical supervisors, and surgery manager, the surgical technologist III provides scrub services for the department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the functionality, availability, and sterility of OR supplies and equipment prior to the start of the daily caseload.
- Scrub and handle instruments during surgical procedures.
- Adhere to standards of aseptic technique in all phases of surgical intervention.
- Demonstrate competence in performing scrub services for a variety of surgical procedures (thoracic/vascular, orthopedics, spine, general/urology/gynecology, EENT/plastics/maxillofacial, neuro, robotics).
- Assist service-line coordinators in receiving and stocking supplies/equipment for a cluster of specialties.
- Report variations in stock inventory levels to the service-line coordinators and materials management.
- Communicate opportunities for systems improvement to the service-line coordinators and surgery manager.
- Participate in selected patient care activities such as room turnover and transporting as needed.
- Participate in meeting the department's budgetary objectives.
- Support the philosophy, objectives, and goals of hospital administration and its representatives.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist course (not required if more than 10 years of experience).
- National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (upon hire).
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association (upon hire).
- 5 years of experience as a surgical technologist with the ability to competently scrub all regularly performed procedures.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $48.28 - $64.35 per hour. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
