Senior Supply Chain Manager, Global Logistics, Domestic First Mile Cost
About the role
The Senior Supply Chain Manager will own the Length of Haul (LOH) optimization strategy and Cost Per Unit (CPU) reduction for Amazon's Domestic First Mile network. This role impacts billions in annual transportation spend by strategically reducing the distance inventory travels from vendor or seller origin to the first Amazon node.
Responsibilities
Own the LOH optimization strategy end-to-end, including setting annual targets, building multi-year roadmaps, conducting root-cause analysis, and executing initiatives to reduce inbound transportation cost across Amazon's domestic network.
Develop deep expertise in Amazon's inbound network design and inventory placement systems, identifying and executing structural opportunities to reduce distance through placement optimization, origin intelligence, and network topology influence.
Partner with product management, technology, finance, and operations teams to define requirements, write business cases, and deliver system-level solutions that permanently lower cost per unit at scale.
Lead strategic planning and executive communication, including investment proposals, performance narratives, and quarterly reviews, to influence senior leadership decisions and secure resources for high-impact initiatives.
Leverage data analytics, AI, and automation to build scalable insights, dashboards, and attribution models; lead vendor-facing initiatives including origin optimization coaching and multi-origin shipment strategies.
Qualifications
5+ years of program or project management experience, including owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects, including data analysis and reporting.
Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar, and intermediate-level knowledge of SQL.
Master's degree or MBA in supply chain, business, engineering, finance, or related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in transportation optimization or supply chain within a high-volume logistics, manufacturing, or e-commerce environment.
Track record of influencing technical product roadmaps and driving system-level changes in complex, matrixed organizations.
Experience with AI/ML technologies for automation, insight generation, or predictive modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of driving process improvements and building scalable analytical frameworks.
Experience in a high-volume logistics, manufacturing, or e-commerce environment.
Track record of influencing technical product roadmaps and driving system-level changes in complex, matrixed organizations.
Experience with AI/ML technologies for automation, insight generation, or predictive modeling.
