Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

About the role

At Medtronic’s Boulder, Colorado facility — a dynamic hub for surgical innovations within our Medical Surgical portfolio — you will serve as a pivotal member of the Supplier Quality team. This role is ideal for professionals driven by challenge, energized by innovation, and passionate about making a real difference in global healthcare. You will collaborate with a diverse network of suppliers to resolve quality challenges affecting production, establish quality standards, and partner with cross-functional teams to execute qualification projects. Additionally, you will support the new development team in seamlessly transitioning parts from design to production, ensuring that Medtronic continues to deliver the highest quality and most reliable products to patients worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services.
• Qualifies suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness.
• Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur.
• Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met.
• Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation.
• Provides Pre-Market Quality Engineering support to New Product Development (NPD) in partnership with the Component Engineering and Post-Market Supplier Quality Teams, to deliver quality parts, materials, and services, prevent defects, and allow Medtronic to provide customers with the highest quality and reliable products.
• Provides technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the NPD lifecycle on newly qualified parts from NPD and implementing strategies for driving product quality and continuous improvement, ensuring purchased products and components are manufactured and qualified in accordance to applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
• Collaborates with Component Engineers to develop and deliver the Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy, Approved Supplier List coordination, Supplier Owned Quality deployment, and Control Plans for new products.
• Defines Receiving Inspection requirements as required and associated test method validation for all internal Medtronic Test Methods.

Requirements

• Requires a bachelor’s degree.
• A minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or a PhD with 0 years of relevant experience.
• For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

• Root cause analysis methodology.
• Risk Management or CAPA experience.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills.
• Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Computer skills in MS Office and ERP systems desirable.
• Ability to interface with internal customers, suppliers and external regulatory agencies.

Pay

Salary range for U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) locations (USD): $99,200.00 – $148,800.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
