Senior Supplier Quality Engineer
About the role
The Anniston, Alabama site of BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Sr. SQE) within the Procurement Quality Support Engineering (PQSE) group. This advanced career opportunity involves day-to-day supplier quality interactions on assigned programs, including defect investigations, trend analysis, and leading continuous improvement projects. The role requires frequent interaction and status reporting to internal and external customers while supporting multiple projects to completion.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the impact of nonconforming product and assess suppliers’ corrective actions.
- Champion problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
- Evaluate First Article Inspections per AS9102 requirements.
- Work with suppliers to meet BAE Systems' requirements.
- Evaluate First Article Test plans and reporting for execution and approval.
- Drive a “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base and implement A3 problem-solving tool practices.
- Lead and conduct containment efforts, maintaining traceability of actions to ensure swift resolution of supplier non-conformances.
- Enforce purchase order (PO) requirements, manage supplier non-conformance, and improve supplier performance through root cause analysis and corrective action.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field of study.
- Minimum of 4 years of related work experience (or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical drawing interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficiency in Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 Quality Systems, and AS9102B First Article Requirements or comparable industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to apply practical, results-oriented problem-solving techniques to technical challenges.
- Computer skills including MS Office Suite and related industry software applications.
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Defense Prime Contract environment.
- Experience with product line validation, test plans, test equipment, and product qualifications.
- Specific experience with electrical assemblies for the Defense Industry.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools (e.g., Green/Black Belt).
- Familiarity with Toyota Production System (TPS), Toyota Way, and A3 problem-solving tools.
Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $79,370 – $134,929. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
