Where You Will Work
Chino is an open-pit copper mining complex located 15 miles from the historic mining community of Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. The historic Chino mine is one of the world's first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Today, the operation includes a 36,000-metric-ton-per-day concentrator producing copper and a 150-million-pound-per-year solvent extraction/electrowinning plant producing copper cathode from leaching solutions. Silver City offers various amenities such as restaurants, arts, entertainment, cliff dwellings, festivals, and a pleasant climate with three hundred days of sunshine per year.
What You Will Do
- Ensure continued operations of production shifts through execution of the production plan and schedules.
- Provide Operations input for production and maintenance planning.
- Ensure adherence to correct safety and operating procedures and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Inspect assigned work units to ensure schedules and objectives are attained.
- Cook daily with other Operational and staff areas, including Maintenance, Processing, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and Sales.
- Directly supervise first-line or shift Supervisors.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
- A high school diploma or GED and seven (7) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience, or
- A bachelor's degree in a technical mining related discipline and three (3) years of operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques, skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects, skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration, able to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions, skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards, able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of Hydromet operations and process workflows, strong background in maintenance and pumping system troubleshooting, proven ability to mentor and develop supervisors; leads by example, experience creating and managing runtime KPIs to improve performance.
What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $105,000-$145,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
