Senior Superintendent (Water/Wastewater)

About the role

The Senior Superintendent in the Clark Water Group oversees all field operations on a project to ensure that self-performed and subcontracted trade work is in compliance with contract documents and the project schedule. Senior Superintendents also implement and enforce safety and quality control policies among Clark employees and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the timely and cost-effective installation of the contracted work of either the total project or a particular scope(s), subcontractor(s), or other portion(s) of the project
• Provide on-the-job training opportunities for Assistant Superintendents and Project/Office Engineers
• Encourages and/or participates in staff training and development
• Develop a plan for sequence of work and develop project schedule
• Plan and organize project work to assure all work is in place in accordance with contract documents
• Have working knowledge of owner contract, subcontracts and purchase orders
• Know the scheduled delivery dates for all critical path material and equipment
• Know submittal schedule and update project schedule monthly
• Control field costs for Clark and subcontract work
• Supervise field work force to assure all work is put in place in the most cost-efficient manner
• Schedule and monitor field productivity
• Implement safety program and conduct regular safety inspections
• Assist in resolution of scope conflicts and participate in the project management functions
• Assure punch list is completed in a timely manner and participate in marketing proposals and presentations

Qualifications

An undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline or relevant experience is required. The ideal candidate will have 8-10+ years of water/wastewater construction experience with a large-scale commercial contractor or equivalent industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

Skills

• In depth knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower, etc
• Demonstrated ability to lead field operations
• Working knowledge of applicable regulations (i.e., OSHA)

Work Environment

The work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. This is an active, hands-on role that requires being on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Pay

The base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $225,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
