Senior Superintendent (San Francisco)- Austin Commercial

Austin Commercial is seeking a Senior Superintendent in San Francisco for our Aviation Division. Responsibilities
- Leads and oversees the day-to-day field construction activities on assigned jobsite.
- Organizes and manages a large project staff, dividing duties between multiple employee-owners.
- In charge of overall safety at the jobsite, including implementation of safety plans and procedures.
- Reviews record documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schedules to determine project scope, materials, manpower, and equipment needs.
- Plans the physical layout of the jobsite, including site security, office trailers, utility hookups, cranes, hoists, and material storage.
- Directs field engineers in initial survey and layout; ensures dimensional control lines and elevations are verified by certified surveyors before foundation work.
- Plans daily and weekly activities for each craft, providing detailed technical instructions to foremen.
- Resolves ambiguities in plans and drawings with project office staff before construction begins.
- Establishes procedures for ordering self-performed building materials, supplies, and small tools from approved suppliers.
- Inspects all field construction work, ensuring high-quality workmanship and supervising subcontracted activities.
- Provides technical guidance to resolve day-to-day construction problems and investigates alternative work methods.
- Works closely with architects, engineers, and consulting firms to resolve issues.
- Assists the project manager in evaluating schedule and cost impacts, developing manpower and equipment projection charts, and monitoring labor/equipment costs.
- Investigates reasons for delays and adjusts leadership, crew sizes, or equipment as needed to ensure timely project completion.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes related to construction activities.
- Manages scheduling of governmental inspections to obtain a certificate of occupancy.
- Assumes overall responsibility for employee health and safety, including OSHA compliance and emergency preparedness.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with owners, architects, and other stakeholders.
- Fosters training and development of subordinates through on-the-job and company-sponsored programs.
- Leads career planning and development for project staff, including merit increases and promotions.
- Handles project completion tasks such as close-out punch lists, demobilization, and as-built documents.
- Maintains a detailed and accurate daily report of all field construction activities.
Requirements
- B.S. in construction management, construction science, engineering, or relevant discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education (High School diploma) and experience.
- Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment).
- 10+ years of aviation construction field experience, including direct supervisory experience on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record in terminal and concourse development, ensuring optimal passenger flow and efficiency.
- In-depth knowledge of processor (headhouse) structures for airport operations.
- Experience with Consolidated Rental Car Centers (ConRAC), integrating transportation and rental facilities.
- Expertise in landside and airside construction, balancing regulatory compliance and operational impact.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficient with reading plans and specifications.
- Ability to build and manage multiple high-performing teams.
- Willingness to travel or relocate for key project assignments.
- Must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States (Austin Commercial is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position).

Pay
The salary range for this position is $167,000 - $252,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills.
