About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Senior Superintendent to join our Carolinas Division in Charlotte. The ideal candidate will manage complex MEP renovations in occupied facilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead all field operations from project start through closeout while championing Balfour Beatty's Zero Harm® safety culture.
- Oversee complex MEP system replacements in occupied facilities.
- Develop and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for critical shutdowns, tie-ins, and system transitions.
- Cook up and execute project schedules, site logistics, subcontractor performance, quality control, commissioning activities, and project turnover.
- Lead pull planning sessions and coordinate critical path activities to maintain schedule performance.
- Supervise field personnel and subcontractors while fostering accountability, collaboration, and a safety-first culture.
- Identify and proactively resolve field issues to minimize project risk and ensure successful delivery.
Requirements
- 10+ years of construction experience, including experience as a Superintendent leading complex commercial projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing major MEP renovations or replacements in occupied facilities.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC infrastructure, controls, and critical utility systems.
- Experience developing and implementing MOPs for planned shutdowns and critical system replacements.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple MEP contractors, design professionals, owners, and facility stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, quality control, safety management, and commissioning processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Experience surveying and tracing existing MEP systems to support replacement planning.
- Background delivering projects in mission-critical environments, including healthcare facilities, data centers, correctional facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratories, or other continuously operating buildings.
- Experience planning phased construction activities to minimize disruption to ongoing operations.
- Familiarity with central plants, building automation systems (BAS), and large-scale HVAC infrastructure.
- Proven success managing technically complex renovations requiring detailed coordination among owners, design teams, trade partners, and end users.
