Senior Superintendent
About the role
Balfour Beatty US is seeking a Senior Superintendent to lead construction operations on assigned projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing trades/subcontractors on large high-rise and urban mixed-use projects.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the issuance of monthly progress reports, payment applications, and other financial cost reports.
- Develop and manage general conditions budgets and control costs.
- Review and approve subcontractor and vendor payment applications and miscellaneous invoices.
- Strategize with the project manager to address project-level risks.
- Aid in the development of initial project schedules and communicate updates to subcontractors and vendors.
- Prepare or assist in preparing operations-related components of proposals and presentations, including logistics plans, phasing plans, project risk assessments, quality control plans, and safety plans.
- Lead construction delivery portions of presentations.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce a project site logistics plan and temporary facilities plan.
- Participate and lead post-bid, buyout, owner/architect/contractor, coordination, lead team, subcontractor, staff, scheduling, and post-mortem meetings.
- Perform a qualitative review of contract documents for potential conflicts or interpretation issues.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and enforce a project-specific safety program and quality assurance and workmanship program.
- Manage OSHA site visits and ensure compliance with local labor requirements.
- Monitor and expedite material deliveries, manage document submittals/approvals, and ensure timely project completion.
- Supervise layout and field engineering, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Ensure insurance, safety, labor relations, classifications, wage rates, and Equal Employment Opportunity requirements are met.
- Proactively identify and solve problems to minimize risk.
- Coordinate punch list items and coordinate required field inspections.
- Understand local labor requirements and capabilities for self-perform work.
- Assume all duties and responsibilities of a superintendent in the absence of others.
- Coordinate daily construction activities within existing operating facilities.
- Support and represent Balfour Beatty Construction in client, subcontractor, and vendor relationships.
- Lead the team in developing and implementing initiatives for Operational Excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in construction management, with extensive experience managing trades/subcontractors on large high-rise and urban mixed-use projects.
- Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring, and supervising multiple Superintendents on large commercial construction projects.
- Mastery of field management skills, including managing site activity, labor relations, anticipation and resolution of field-related issues, establishing and enforcing site schedule requirements, managing site safety, and managing insurance risks.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of Zero Harm principles and OSHA requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Primavera (P6) scheduling software, and other construction software applications.
- Ability to lead proposal efforts and assist in general conditions development.
Qualifications
- Experience with demolition of buildings and infrastructure.
- Experience with new infrastructure installation (sewer, storm, water, electric, gas).
- Experience with roadway construction and ancillary structures.
- Experience with military housing or multifamily projects.
- Experience with planning and developing logistics for neighborhood buildouts.

Pay
The base compensation for the Senior Superintendent is between $125,000 and $175,000 annually. The exact salary will be determined based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
Schedule
Work is primarily completed on job sites, typically in an office trailer or existing structure. Personal protective equipment is required as per company safety policies and weather conditions.
