Senior Substation Physical Designer

About the Role

Provides technical design and CADD support for substation projects, creating detailed layouts, electrical schematics, and civil drawings. Collaborates with engineering teams to ensure designs meet industry standards, codes, and client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes site data, blueprints, and specifications to support drafting activities.
• Develops 3D models and detailed drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor, or similar software.
• Ensures designs are accurate, compliant, and of high quality, adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
• Verifies calculations, interprets plans, and resolves technical issues, escalating problems as needed.
• Coordinates with cross-functional teams, reviews plans, and maintains documentation for quality control.
• Provides guidance to entry-level staff, stays current with design practices, and upholds ethical standards.

Requirements

• High School diploma with at least 9 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor, and 3D modeling software.
• Knowledge of electrical, civil, and structural design principles, codes, and regulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and uphold safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and professional licensure.

Occasional travel may be required.
