Senior Substation Estimator

Scope of Work

As the Senior Substation Estimator, you will create utility project estimates, consult on select projects, and provide best-in-class service. Your responsibilities include:

• Creating preliminary project schedules considering lead times, crews, construction durations, siting etc.
• Writing Scope of Work for conceptual/pre-funding approval projects.
• Working with internal substation layout teams for preliminary substation designs.
• Creating and reviewing substation estimates.
• Working on projects involving 25kV-765kV Utility Power Equipment for Substations.
• Reviewing and aiding supplemental support estimates such as, but not limited to, forestry, SCADA/IT network, fiber, testing and commissioning, and related.
• Cooking with other scoping and estimating team members, planning and protection engineering, sponsors, regional contacts and personnel from the supplemental support estimate staff.
• Attending regional meetings with planning, protection and other stakeholders to review the status of all open estimates.
• Reviewing, approving, rejecting estimate requests in OPPM.
• Building accurate project schedule timelines for substation and support estimates.

Requirements

• Ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload while communicating efficiently and effectively with internal and external clients.
• Solid understanding of engineering design / drawing packages.
• High school or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical degree is advantageous.
• 8+ years of either substation design or estimating experience within the electric utility industry is required.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, specifically within Excel.

Preferred

• Sage Estimating software, Navigator, OPPM (Primavera P6), Google Earth.
• Experience with substation design, construction, and/or testing (aligned with estimating experience).
• Ability to mine and analyze data.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is highly preferred.

Pay

Straight time overtime pay for billable hours over 40 in a workweek.

Schedule

3% travel requirement (2-3 times per year).
