Senior Subcontracts Manager
Position Summary
The Senior Subcontracts Manager is responsible for performing subcontract management functions for sponsored programs in support of the Materials Sector. The Senior Subcontracts Manager reviews documentation drafted by team members including requests for proposals, draft subcontract documents, and cost analysis. This position independently conducts subcontract negotiations, monitors subcontract performance, and oversees complex invoice approval and closeout processes. The Senior Subcontracts Manager will assist the Subcontracts Team Lead with overall management of the subcontract administration function and support staff. Additionally, this position advises Principal Investigators, senior management, and support personnel on University subcontracting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements that pertain to federal research programs.

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of federal procurement regulations, including FAR, DFAR, and federal grant regulations. The Senior Subcontracts Manager must have significant negotiation experience in purchasing or subcontracting and demonstrate effective written communication skills, including contract drafting.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and drafts subcontract documents

- Supports the Subcontracts Team Lead in managing the subcontract administration function
- Provides guidance on University subcontracting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Eight years of related experience
- Three years of purchasing or subcontracting experience in government contracting or research administration fields
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of federal procurement regulations, including FAR, DFAR, and federal grant regulations
- Significant negotiation experience in purchasing or subcontracting
- Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective written communication skills, including contract drafting
Qualifications
- Advanced degree or coursework towards an advanced degree in a related field
- Ten years or more of related experience
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of federal procurement regulations, including the FAR, DFAR, and federal grant regulations
- Advanced contract drafting experience
