About the role

Atlantic Constructors is seeking a Senior Tekla Detailer to join their team and play a key role in producing high-quality structural steel fabrication drawings. This position requires a strong understanding of fabrication and construction processes, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and fabricators.

Essential Functions

  • Lead Tekla modelling and detailing for complex projects, define standards, and ensure deliverables meet fabrication and erection requirements with minimal oversight
  • Own larger scopes of fabrication projects, develop detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures
  • Interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and design intent
  • Resolve complex connections and clashes, performing QA/QC final checks
  • Produce shop drawings, erection drawings, BOMs and NC files, and material take-offs
  • Cook up with engineers, project managers, junior detailers, and fabrication shop personnel to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Estimate efforts and support client communications when necessary
  • Review and check drawings for quality, completeness, and compliance with project standards
  • Manage revisions and updates throughout the project lifecycle
  • Aid in resolving design and fabrication issues

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a Tekla Detailer (structural steel) with leadership experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Tekla Structures
  • Strong knowledge of AISC codes, engineering judgement, and relevant industry standards
  • Experience with clash detection and coordination
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a Tekla Detailer (structural steel) and experience as a team lead
  • Experience working with fabrication shops or on-site construction teams
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and integration

Work Environment

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Position may require visits to construction site. Flexible work arrangements (if applicable).
