Engineering$120k–$140k/yrFull-time

About the role

Join a 100% employee‑owned engineering, procurement and construction firm that is expanding its structural team in Ann Arbor. The work focuses on nuclear plant modifications, advanced power generation, and high‑voltage transmission structures. The firm has seventy years of nuclear experience and is actively involved in the Palisades restart and the upcoming small‑modular‑reactor projects on Lake Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex structural analysis, calculations, sketches, and drawings for power generation and industrial facilities (steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, equipment anchorage, lateral systems).
  • Execute nuclear‑scope work where applicable: seismic qualification and structural modifications per ACI 349, AISC N690, ASCE 43‑05; plant modifications, dry fuel storage and ISFSI projects supported by in‑house seismic, tornadic, and flood analysis.
  • Own budget, schedule, and quality for assigned scope; act as responsible charge on projects.
  • Review junior engineers’ work, lead production teams, and coordinate across disciplines.
  • Provide client‑facing input as you advance, including support on pursuits and front‑end studies.

Requirements

  • 5–20+ years of structural engineering experience; ambitious and seeking clear career growth.
  • Accredited engineering degree (baseline).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license expected at senior level to meet Engineer‑of‑Record requirements.
  • Preferred background in power, industrial, or nuclear engineering; heavy‑civil or industrial engineers have successfully transitioned.
  • Defined progression path: Lead Engineer (5–10 years), Senior Engineer (after PE), Engineering Manager, then either Project Manager or Subject‑Matter‑Expert track.

Benefits

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) contribution of 8–12 % of total compensation annually, fully vested in six years (has been ~10 % for the past three years).
  • 6 % 401(k) match.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage effective day one.
  • Approximately 12 % annual bonus.
  • Tuition reimbursement for master’s‑level studies.
  • Straight‑time overtime pay for hours beyond 40 h/week (most employees do not exceed this).

Pay

Base salaries are above the Michigan market, where senior structural engineers earn $120 k–$140 k and mid‑level $90 k–$110 k; the firm pays above the top of that range and adds roughly another 10 % of total compensation via the ESOP contribution.

Schedule

  • 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).
  • Two remote‑work days per week.
