Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes.
  • Design of structural steel connections.
  • Temporary Stability Analysis of partially completed structures, as workload dictates.
  • Site visits and communication with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Preparation of contract documents utilizing Revit.
  • Collaborative teamwork, delivering projects to meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience
  • Degree (Master preferred) in structural engineering or a related field.
  • EIT Certification and/or working towards the goal of becoming a Professional Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of current construction industry methodologies and practices.
  • Working knowledge of current industry software, including SAP2000, ETABS, Ram, Risa3-D, PCA Software, Revit, AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

About the role

The Role We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join our Construction Engineering Practice as a Senior Engineer. This individual will join the Thornton Tomasetti Construction Engineering team and will be involved in the design of Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Structures. The Senior Engineer will also be called on to provide connection design, temporary stability analysis, and contractor support as workload dictates. The goals of this role will be to support national projects. Tasks will include face-to-face interactions with existing clients as well as the opportunity to develop relationships with new clients. You'll form part of a team delivering innovative engineering solutions. As our Construction Engineering Practice grows there is great potential for upward mobility and career development within this exciting new role.

Skills

  • Proficiency in structural engineering software such as SAP2000, ETABS, Ram, Risa3-D, PCA Software, Revit, AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of construction industry methodologies and practices.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in structural engineering.
  • Experience with Revit and other relevant software.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
