Senior Structural Engineer

Buro Happold is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our talented and inclusive hybrid Structural Engineering team in Los Angeles, CA. Responsibilities
- Preparation and verification of detailed engineering designs, drawings, documents, and specifications
- Undertake detailed engineering design for gravity and lateral systems of building structures
- Take the lead in managing project development and deliverables with the team
- Review project work and deliverables to meet high-quality standards against project schedules
- Guide and help develop less experienced team members to achieve project success and team goals
- Create 3D structural analysis models using commercial software, including RAM, SAP, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
- Set up, manage, and review job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure
- Under guidance of project leadership, attend and participate in meetings with clients and other design team members
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in innovative structural building engineering design
- Relevant master's degree
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; Structural Engineer (S.E.) is a plus
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of US Building Codes and Professional Standards with expertise in seismic design
- Broad structural design knowledge from working on a wide range of projects
- Experience with a wide range of materials, including the design of steel, concrete, and mass timber building structures
- Confident and proactive character with the ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with the ability to work independently
- Experience in performance-based seismic design and seismic devices (base isolation, hysteretic/viscous dampers, etc.) is a plus
- Good working experience with BIM tools such as REVIT
- Passion for sustainability and reducing the environmental impact on projects
- Experience with or willingness to learn computational design methods using Rhino and Grasshopper is a plus

- Salary range of $95,000 to $115,000, determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience
