Senior Structural Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. This role collaborates with architects and other engineering discipline leads to develop designs and drive projects forward, working independently and/or leading small project teams and mentoring EIT’s.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects and other engineering discipline leads to develop designs and drive projects forward, working independently and/or leading small project teams and mentoring EIT’s.
- Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project.
- Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
- Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
- Coordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
- Perform site visits and lead construction administration efforts.
- Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations.
- Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines and best practices/industry standards.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Architectural Engineering, Structural emphasis
- 12 years of progressive structural engineering experience on projects of similar scale and complexity to HDR’s.
- Strong communication skills and emerging leadership aptitude with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Knowledge of building codes such as IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and TMS.
- Interest in structural engineering related to buildings or water facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 12 years of progressive structural engineering experience on projects of similar scale and complexity to HDR’s.

- Knowledge of building codes such as IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and TMS.
- Interest in structural engineering related to buildings or water facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.

- AutoCAD
- RAM
- ETABS
- SAFE or similar analytical software
- Experience in design calculations and layouts
- Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
- Understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm

Pay
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This role is full-time and works a standard 40-hour week.
Business Class
This role is within the Building Structural Business Class.

This role is regular and exempt.
